Jesus Is In Our Midst
The resurrection of Jesus came as a surprise
to His disciples. Following His death, the
disciples are seen cowering behind locked
doors, fearing a similar fate. It is then
that we read, “Jesus stood in the midst, and
saith unto them, Peace be unto you” (John
20:19b). Contrary to their expectations,
Jesus had risen from the dead!
He showed them the nail
prints in His hands and feet, and spear
wound in His side, saying, “A spirit hath
not flesh and bones as ye see me have” (Luke
24:39). For 40 days Jesus made
appearances to His followers, even to 500 at
one time (1
Corinthians 15:1-4). Then He ascended
bodily into heaven (Luke
24:51). He left behind no bones to be
put in a box!
For the faithful, Jesus is still in our midst. Prior to ascending into heaven He promised, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20). Thus He calms our fears, provides us a strong foundation in Himself, and gives us assurance of acceptance with Him and the Father. Do you have the assurance of His presence? (Mark 16:16; Revelation 2:10)
