The father & His Sons
So the heavenly Father will welcome
those who return to to Him. Upon faith,
repentance and obedience to the Gospel,
all may be accepted into His family (Acts
2:38;
Gal. 3:26-27).
The message this Sunday a.m.: The Father
and His Sons” Possibly the most popular
of Jesus’ parables is the parable of The
Prodigal Son, as recorded in
Luke 15. In it Jesus likens a
sinner’s acceptance with the heavenly
Father to an earthly father’s acceptance
of a wayward son. When the son left
home in search of worldly pleasure, his
money and pleasures were short-lived.
In a pig pen he comes to his senses and
returns home, willing to be just a
servant, not a son. However, his father
accepted him again as his son. He could
have said, “You’ve made your bed; now
lie in it!”, but instead rejoiced and
received his son back to his former
status. He didn’t put him on probation,
but put a ring on his finger, a robe on
his back, shoes on his feet, and had a
feast of celebration. His son was
welcomed as one who had been dead, but
was now alive again. So the heavenly
Father will welcome those who return to
t Him. Upon faith, repentance and
obedience to the Gospel, all may be
accepted into His family (Acts
2:38;
Gal. 3:26-27).
