As we approach Independence Day our minds and hearts are stirred to appreciation for our nation and the blessing of liberty we enjoy.  Our hearts are bonded in a spirit of patriotism.  Politicians often question one  another’s patriotism.  This brings us to a question: Who are the true patriots? Upon whom does the welfare of our great nation most depend? While political questions arise, and may be to some degree important, the greater question lies in the spiritual dimensions of our nation.  God’s word warns that God’s judgment rests upon “all the nations that forget God” (Psalms 9:17).  The true patriots today are those that retain their faith in God, and seek to live in the light of His word.  Our greatest safety as a nation is not as dependent upon who is elected to office, or how great our military might is, but rather upon our faith and dependence upon God.  If our nation continues to reject God and to ignore His laws, fearful consequences can be expected.  Are YOU a true patriot?
