“Let There Be Light”
At the beginning of creation God said, “Let there
be light, and there was light” (Genesis
1:3). In a new spiritual creation God again speaks in
the person of His Son Jesus Christ, dispelling darkness.
2 Corinthians 4:6 reads, “For God, who commanded
the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our
hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
During the second World War a song of hope sung countless times was, “When the Lights Go On Again All Over the World.” When the threat of air raids was no more, lights did eventually come on again, bringing great joy. Blackouts were a thing of the past as Europe was transformed by light.
In the Bible, darkness is a symbol of evil and spiritual ignorance. The message of the Bible is that God has sent His Son, who declared, “I am the light of the world” (John 9:5). One who would refuse Christ is said to “walk in darkness, knowing not whither he goeth” (John 12:35). Friend, has He spoken light into being in your heart?
Acceptance of Jesus Christ in faith and obedience will deliver you from the power of darkness into His light. (Colossians 1:13-14)
