JESUS’ BONES FOUND?

It never fails.  As we near Easter or Christmas  some theory is promoted in the media to attempt to discredit the Christian message.  Now it’s a “documentary” aired Sunday proposing that Jesus’ bones have been found.  These bones were found 25 years ago, and only now is it considered “proof” that Jesus wasn’t really raised from the dead, but that the disciples had stolen his body, put them in another tomb, and maybe a year later put the bones in a bone-box in his family’s tomb.  The names in the tomb were common in Jesus’ day: Jesus, Joseph, Mary, etc.

Archaeologists had never before considered this significant.  Then we’re to believe that the Apostles lied, saying they companied with the resurrected Jesus for 40 days, and that they were willing to be stoned, imprisoned and executed rather than renounce their story.  This theory is simply another attempt to discredit the Christian faith before an all-too-gullible public, thus justifying ignoring the claim of the Gospel on their lives.  If Christ is not risen, our faith is vain, and we are yet in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:13-19).  You can’t be a Christian and deny the resurrection of Jesus—the bedrock evidence that Jesus is truly the Son of God (Romans 1:4)

The message this Sunday a.m.: “Man.”
